Up for grabs were 15-year licences for spectrum in the 700MHz, 2100MHz and 3600MHz bands.Magyar Telekom acquired two blocks of 10MHz in the 700MHz and 2100MHz bands, with a 120MHz block in the 3600MHz sector. In a statement, the operator revealed its outlay totalled HUF54.2 billion, which it plans to pay during Q2. It is targeting a swift launch of 5G services after receiving its licences.Vodafone won two 10MHz blocks of 700MHz, 5MHz of 2100MHz and 50MHz in the 3600MHz band. Telenor gained two 5MHz blocks of 700MHz and 140MHz of 3600MHz. The pair are yet to provide details of the sums tendered.NMHH noted intense rivalry for the 700MHz frequency band, which will become available on 6 September at the earliest.Operators will have the option to extend access to the spectrum usage rights for five years after the initial period expired, for an additional one-off payment.Hungary’s regulator encouraged operators to install 5G at locations of social importance, including hospitals, campuses and key transport routes. In a statement, NMHH claimed Hungary will be among the first countries to take advantage of the next-generation networks, noting the auction opened opportunities for innovations in industry, health, agriculture, transport and logistics. The authority said the auction was conducted under special circumstances due to the ongoing Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, with participants offered protective equipment and health monitoring systems in place. Authorities: Pediatrician who killed himself may have forged patients’ vaccination records

first_imgMarianVejcik/iStock(CHICAGO) — An Illinois pediatrician who died by suicide last year may have forged patient’s vaccination medical records, according to investigators. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the vaccinations provided by Dr. Van Koinis, 58, who died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound in September, after a suicide note left behind “raised questions” about the record-keeping of vaccinations at his medical practice in Evergreen Park, about 15 miles south of Chicago, the sheriff’s office said in a statement provided to ABC Chicago station WLS-TV.During the investigation into Koinis’ death, authorities found it was unclear who did and did not receive vaccinations due to record-keeping issues, according to the statement.Investigators also found that Koinis, in some cases, did not provide vaccinations to children at their parent’s request. It is unclear how many patients may have been affected.Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart told the Chicago Sun-Times that Koinis “regretted his conduct with immunizations,” which he had been “adverse” to during the last decade of work at his practice.Dart told the local newspaper Koinis may have forged vaccination documents at the request of parents.Authorities are now recommending that former patients of Koinis discuss this possibility with their current physicians and inquire about methods to test for prior vaccinations, “out of an abundance of caution.”Koinis had been licensed to practice in Illinois since 1991, authorities said. He mostly served patients on Chicago’s southwest side and near southwest suburbs, according to the sheriff’s office.Alzein Pediatrics, the pediatric group that received Koinis’ records, posted a tribute to him following the news of his death last year. The practice has now posted an option on its website for former patients of Koinis to download a medical records release form. The investigation is ongoing, and the Illinois Department of Public Health has been notified. If you are in crisis, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting TALK to 741-741.Copyright © 2020, ABC Audio. Rapping cop suspended after filming transphobic video encouraging violence

first_imgdlewis33/iStockBy JON HAWORTH, ABC News(NEW YORK) — A police officer in New York has been suspended and an investigation has been launched into his behavior after a video of him rapping transphobic lyrics and encouraging violence was posted and made public on social media. In the video, a man who identifies himself as Officer Robert Sisco, and can be seen wearing a police uniform with a name tag that reads “R. Sisco,” films himself rapping for about a minute on a series of different controversial topics. The officer who works for the New Paltz Police Department in New York proceeds to rap transphobic messages, encourages violence against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and even manages to get in a line about how the coronavirus was sent to the U.S. by China.“Spit facts over feelings because your feelings are irrelevant, there’s only two genders and Trump’s still your president,” the man proclaims before proceeding to rap about the anatomy of men and women. In another verse the officer then says “Hillary is Killary we all know the reason, where those emails at? We should hang her for treason.”A verse toward the end of the video includes “just because I’m a cop it doesn’t mean that I’m bad, but I’d rather use my words than resorting to violence.” The video caused an uproar within the community, according to the Town Board of New Paltz, and was the cause of many complaints, which sparked the town to issue a public statement on the matter. “The following message has been unanimously written and approved by all members of the Town Board,” the statement began. “The Town Board, as Police Commission, has received many complaints and has seen the officer’s video. We are so sorry that the trust of many in our community has been broken and that their safety feels threatened. No one in our town should have to feel that way about our police. The New Paltz Police have initiated an internal investigation and will be working closely with the Police Commission to explore and direct responsive action in this matter, in the meantime we have placed the officer on administrative leave. We are all committed to repairing trust with our New Paltz transgender and LGBTQ+ community members.”The controversy comes not only in the middle of Pride Month which is being celebrated across the country but also at a time when police are receiving increased scrutiny about their behavior following the death of George Floyd on May 25 at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department. New Paltz Police Chief Rob Lucchesi said there is no set timeframe for how long the investigation will take into the officer’s conduct, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. South Africa scores double ton

(Image: Wikimedia) Newlands cricket stadium, with its famous backdrop of Devil’s Peak. (Image: Wikimedia)Janine ErasmusSouth Africa has become the hub of the cricket world almost overnight, with two major international tournaments shifting from India and Pakistan to the southern tip of the African continent amid fears for the safety of players. The country will host both the Indian Premier League and the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Champions Trophy tournaments. The unexpected cricketing bonanza will bring thousands of visitors to South Africa and some sources say it will boost the economy by up to R1-billion ($100-million).The ICC awarded the Champions Trophy to South Africa in mid-March, and followed this announcement a mere two weeks later with the news that the Indian Premier League (IPL) was also moving south.South African cricket fans have more to look forward to in 2009 than ever before. The Champions Trophy takes place in Gauteng province from 24 September to 5 October 2009, while IPL games will be held around the country between 18 April and 24 May.The new infrastructure put in place for the 2010 Fifa World Cup will have an unscheduled test run during the two large-scale sporting events.Short noticeCricket South Africa has less than a month to organise the month-long IPL event, which takes place over 59 games and in six cities around the country.Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola said: “CSA is delighted to accept the invitation to host the 2009 DFL Indian Premier League tournament. This is a great compliment to both CSA and our nation to be shown this confidence in our ability to hold one of the world’s top sporting events at short notice.”England was another contender for the hosting honours but in the end South Africa’s glorious weather swayed the IPL board. In addition, South Africa is experienced in putting on a show, having hosted the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in 2007 as well as the Cricket World Cup in 2003 – the event’s first showing on the African continent. The fact that South Africa is two time zones closer to India than is England also influenced the decision, as games can be broadcast in India during prime time. The IPL is a Twenty20 tournament. In this, the shortest form of the game, teams bat for a maximum of 20 overs each, bringing a game to a close in less than three hours, as opposed to a normal One Day International (ODI) which takes around four hours per team. The tournament, which features the world’s top cricketers, caused a storm of controversy when it was launched in 2008 because of the huge salaries offered to players – salaries that could entice them to abandon their careers at home and join the league, to the detriment of their national teams. Furthermore, national cricket bodies contend that players should always be available to represent their country irrespective of the IPL schedule, but IPL contracts are inflexible.IPL players from South Africa include bowlers Dale Steyn, Albie Morkel and Makhaya Ntini, all-rounder Jacques Kallis, wicketkeeper Mark Boucher, and batsmen AB de Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs and Graeme Smith, the captain of South Africa’s national team, the Proteas. Other top international players include Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, leg spinners Shane Warne of Australia and Anil Kumble of India, Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath, and the fearsome off spinner Muttiah Muralitharen of Sri Lanka.Fans can look forward to the likes of the Jaipur Rajasthan Royals, the Chennai Super Kings, the Delhi DareDevils, and the Kolkata Knight Riders, among others, striding onto South African fields, bringing with them the glamour and excitement of limited overs cricket played by the best in the world.Teams will start arriving in South Africa from 1 April 2009. According to the IPL, the opening ceremony and first game will take place at Newlands in Cape Town, while the final will most likely be held at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. Both cities are world-famous as cricket venues, but there are a number of other South African cities, including Durban, Centurion, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, East London and Bloemfontein, that are also well versed in hosting international games.Safety firstA horror attack by armed terrorists on Sri Lankan players in Lahore, Pakistan, in February 2009 sparked an international outcry and prompted the world cricketing authority to immediately seek an alternative venue for games already scheduled.Pakistan was to co-host the Champions Trophy, but ICC CE Haroon Lorgat said afterwards that international cricket would not return to that country soon. Lorgat, a South African, took over the helm of the ICC in April 2008, succeeding Malcolm Speed of Australia.Six policemen and a bus driver were killed during the onslaught. While cricket on the subcontinent remains as popular as ever, the safety of players and officials is the ICC’s top priority.Prestigious tournamentThe ICC Champions Trophy is a prestigious ODI tournament that takes place every two years and is regarded as second only to the World Cup. It was scheduled for Pakistan in September 2008 but was postponed once already due to security concerns.South Africa and Sri Lanka were both considered but again, the weather in South Africa was a major factor. Games will take place at the dual venues of the Wanderers in Johannesburg and Supersport Park in Centurion, near Pretoria.Only the top eight ODI teams are eligible for the tournament. Second favourite South Africa is placed in Group B, along with New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England. Top seed Australia as well as India, Pakistan and West Indies are in Group A. Australia is the defending champion.ICC President David Morgan said, “I think the Board has made a sensible decision that will give the event every chance of success. Cricket South Africa can provide two world-class venues in what is effectively one location.” Morgan added that weather conditions in the area around Johannesburg in September and October are stable and ideal for cricket. At the top of their gameThe Proteas are currently at the top of the ICC’s ODI table, just one point ahead of their arch-rivals Australia, while the positions are switched for the latest Test Championship table. On 25 March Australian captain Ricky Ponting received the ICC Test Championship mace and a cheque for coming second in the ODI championship, while South African captain Graeme Smith received the ICC ODI Championship shield plus a cheque as runner-up in the Test Championship.Do you have queries or comments about this article? A More Social Workplace, According to Palo Alto Networks

first_imgTags:#Analysis#enterprise IT + Project Management: A Love Affair david strom Massive Non-Desk Workforce is an Opportunity fo… 3 Areas of Your Business that Need Tech Nowcenter_img A research report released by Palo Alto Networks last month describes trends in application traffic that the vendor observed crossing their enterprise firewalls in more than 1,200 of their customer prospects. This is the latest and largest monitoring of applications trends from the company, and it provides some interesting tidbits. For example:Social networking is complementary to instant messaging, not replacing it. IM traffic, as a percentage of overall traffic has more than doubled, and webmail and social networking traffic has increased nearly five fold. Facebook accounts for 80% of social networking bandwidth and Twitter just three percent. Almost half of applications traffic is hidden from view. The company observed that applications use either port-hopping techniques (think Skype or other P2P apps) or hide behind encrypted SSL port 443 more than 40% of the total traffic. This means that apps are getting more agile and difficult to block by enterprises. Browser-based file transfer apps continue to grow and surpass P2P networking in terms of traffic patterns. “This data should be a wake-up call for IT teams who assume encrypted traffic is mainly HTTPS or for those who still believe that social networking usage is not taking place on their corporate networks,” said Rene Bonvanie, vice-president of marketing at Palo Alto Networks. You can download the Application Usage and Risk Report report here. Palo Alto also maintains a worthy reference work called Applipedia, where it catalogs the behavior of more than 1,200 different applications.
