Pregnant Woman Killed During a Freak Storm in Guyana

first_imgMarsha Jordan, a woman who was seven months pregnant died early Monday after a freak storm hit the village of Jawalla in the Essequibo region yesterday.The chairman of Guyana’s Region Seven, Gordon Bradford said that the woman and her two children, ages three and 11 years old, were sheltering under a house during the storm when it collapsed.Other houses in the village have been destroyed with another five partially damaged, however, neighboring villages of Phillipai, Paruima, Waramadong have not reported any damage.Bradford and a Civil Defence Commission (CDC) team were scheduled to visit Jawalla later on Monday to assess the situation.last_img
