Share EntertainmentLocalNews DCF unveils 2012 WCMF line up by: – September 5, 2012center_img Share (l-R) Digicel’s acting manager, Johnny Ingle, DFC Chairman Colin Piper and WCMF marketing personnel, Sobers Esprit at Wednesay’s contract signingThe Dominica festival committee (DFC) has finally revealed the complete line up for this year’s sweet 16 World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).During the July 26th, 2012 launch of the festival only eight acts were announced for the lineup, with an explanation by DFC officials that the names of the remaining acts would be announced soon.On Wednesday, at the committee’s first press conference ahead of the October festival, Events Director Nathalie Clark Meade attributed the short list line up to lack of financial resources.“Cash will always be the major challenge in staging the festival and though this year we were a little challenged and late, we now have all our ducks lined up in a row,” she told the media.Chairman of DFC Collin Piper added his voice in stating that a festival of this magnitude carries a budget of $2.2 million.According to him, the government of Dominica provides a subvention of $780,000.00 each year, while sponsors are targeted for $500.000.00 and a target of $1 million from gate receipts.“We have to thank the patrons who continue to patronize the festival and allow us to continue to have the resources to stage the festival,” Piper noted.Meanwhile, acting country manager of telecommunications company Digicel Johnny Engle officially formalized their sponsorship with the DFC with a contract signing.Digicel’s sponsorship includes $225,000.00 in cash and $100.000.00 in kind to include promotions locally, regionally and internationally and give-a-ways.Digicel is into its 8th year of sponsoring the WCMF.The festival will run from 26th to 28th October at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.Friday 26th October features: Zouk all-stars- Stephane Ravor, Luc Leandry, Zouk Machine and Tanya St. Val, Kreyola, WCK band and Asa Bantan.Saturday 27th October: Fanatik with Fredo, Onyan and Rah. Disip Gazzman, Krosfyah, Taurus Riley and Triple Kay.Sunday 28th October: Rising Stars, T-Vice, Damian Junior Gong Marley, Grammax Original, Midnight Groovers and Women stars of Dominica-Michel Henderson and Ophelia Marie.This year’s festival pays tribute to fallen Cadance-lypso ambassador Jefferson “Jeff Joe” Joseph who passed away last November.Dominica Vibes News Sharelast_img
