Oakland Raiders File Papers to Move to Las Vegas

first_img Related Scott Clarke / ESPN Images(ALAMEDA, Calif.) — The San Diego Chargers are now the Los Angeles Chargers, and it seems like the Oakland Raiders might be on the move as well. The team field paperwork on Thursday to relocate to Las Vegas.The Raiders had until Feb. 15 to apply for relocation, but decided not to wait. The team would play in a 65,000-seat domed stadium they would share with the University of Las Vegas Nevada and is expected to cost $1.9 billion. The Raiders would pay $500 million, with billionarer casino owner Sheldon Adelson putting up $650 million. The other $750 million would come from hotel tax revenue.  The stadium, if approved and built, would be on a 62-acre site on Russell Road. The team’s relocation must be approved by three-fourths of the NFL’s team owners.The vote is expected to take place at NFL owners meetings on March 26-29 in Phoenix.Copyright © 2017, ABC Radio.
