3 minutes and counting… DATEV Challenge Roth fills in record time

first_imgAll starting places for next year’s DATEV Challenge Roth in Germany, which takes place on 20 July 2014, sold out in record time earlier this week. On Monday (July 22) the online registration process launched at precisely 10:00 local time. No more than 2 minutes and 9 seconds later all of the available places for German athletes were gone. After 3 minutes and 15 seconds all slots for foreign athletes had gone too.(During the Winners’ Award Ceremony on 15 July, athletes already had the opportunity to register personally for the 2014 race and to acquire an entry code. Around 1,000 individual athletes and 200 relay teams took up this opportunity.)All the relay places for DATEV Challenge Roth on 20 July 2014 are now also booked up. Right after the online registration process had been launched, there was a real run for the relay places, and they were all gone after 50 seconds.There is one last opportunity to secure a coveted spot to Challenge Roth on 6 December as part of the annual Christmas Charity Fundraiser.Challenge Family CEO, Felix Walchshöfer, said the response to the 2014 Challenge Roth event consolidated the event’s position as the world’s greatest long distance triathlon.“No other race has sold this many slots in just 3:15 minutes, we’re truly humbled by the passion triathletes have for Challenge Roth and thank everyone for their support,” he said. “We so appreciate that there are many athletes who were disappointed and were not successful, and we’re so sorry for this.“However, we hope everyone understands we are not able to make more places available as we will not compromise on quality by overcrowding.”According to the Challenge Family, the DATEV Challenge Roth website had over 34,000 unique visits generating 98,865 hits when entries opened.
